CtPokerholic created a new topic Death Wish in the forums.
A short guy is sitting at a bar just staring at his drink for half an hour when this big, trouble-making biker steps next to him, grabs his drink, gulps it down in one swig and then turns to the guy with a menacing stare as if to say, 'What'cha gonna do about it?"
The poor little guy starts crying. "Come on man, I was just giving you a hard time," the biker says. "I didn't think you'd CRY. I can't stand to see a man crying." "This is the worst day of my life," says the little guy between sobs. "I can't do anything right. I overslept and was late to an important meeting, so my boss fired me. When I went to the parking lot, I found my car was stolen and I don't have any insurance. I left my wallet in the cab I took home." He continues, crying even harder. "Then I found my wife in bed with the gardener and my dog bit me. So, I came to this bar trying to work up the courage to put an end to my life, and then you show up and drink the damn poison." |

Axman replied to the topic Re: When to say When in the forums.
I recently wrote this in "Axman's Corner" at DrCheckRaise.com:
"If you play a negative-expectation game, don't be a long-term player. Instead, try to maximize your exposure to positive events, and minimize your exposure to negative events. If you're losing (e.g., one-half of your session bankroll), don't keep playing trying to get back to even. If you're winning, set a reasonable profit goal (e.g., 10%), and lock up some of it (e.g., 50%), or all of it, when you reach your goal. It's OK to quit, or to set a new profit goal and continue to play with the unlocked portion of your profit. Don't keep playing if you drop below your goal; you can also drop down in stakes." When I wrote this, I had in mind the typical casino games where the house always has an edge over the player, e.g., craps. A few games, like video poker (maybe blackjack), can have a long-term positive expectation if played optimally and/or with sufficient casino comps. Everyone will have to decide for themselves if they have a long-term positive expectation from playing poker. P.S. Those %'s may be too conservative for some, but are in fact based on the suggestions of John Patrick in his books on casino gambling, especially craps. |

shaz created a new topic Oh wow! in the forums.
There was a place here all along for intros... I thought the "Welcome Mat was posted by someone named Matt, LOL!
A lot of you know me from Wildcats Poker and various poker sites.. my name is usually some variation of shaz. I'm working on getting a new forum ready for the Grand Opening - hopefully it won't be too much longer... I'm trying to get as many freerolls set up as possible, and it's taking a lot of negotions, as in back and forth emails between myself and various affiliate managers. It'sWildcats Gambling - if you guys don't want the link posted, my feelings won't be hurt if you delete it. I hope you all come and visit me when you have a chance at Wildcats Gambling - more and more is being added on a daily basis! By the way, I live in Tucson AZ, and I'm on MST, 3 hours earlier than EST, so I'm usually wide awake when you guys are all tired out Take care, Kathy |
